HUNT DESCRIPTIONS

At this time we are able to provide hunts for black bear and a limited number of Alaskan brown bear hunts from the Woods Outfitting Gravina Rocks camp in S.E. Prince William Sound. This is one of the most scenic areas of Alaska, with an amazing diversity of wildlife.

Relative ease of access to hunting and fishing makes this an ideal location for our Purple Heart Hunt recipients to experience Alaska from a traditional wilderness bear camp. Relax and enjoy the companionship of fellow hunters and soldiers. Sit by the campfire while the fresh seafood you just caught simmers on the grill. Simply enjoy the sights and sounds of wilderness Alaska, and breathe the fresh sea air.

Hunts are conducted using small boats for transportation throughout the hunt. This ease of transportation is especially important for our mobility impaired veterans, and greatly adds to hunting enjoyment. Each hunter has a minimum of one guide to assist him during hunting situations or camp activities. Disability permits issued by the Alaska Dept. of Fish and Game, along with highly developed hunting techniques and specialized equipment will provide for a highly successful and rewarding experience. We presently have Barrett and Serbu .50 cal BMG rifles available for our Purple Heart hunters, and they have proven to be very effective in the field. Technical assistance has been provided by Jerry Tkac, Ian McMurchy, and Bill Wiseman, and has been invaluable.

We look forward to additional hunting opportunities as we continue to develop infrastructure under terms of a permit on Chugach Alaska Corporation lands in the Copper River area.
